Asian American Community Services is a non-profit organization serving the Asian community in central Ohio. Since its founding in 1976, the AACS has experienced many dynamic changes and growth. We promote community ownership in all programs. We strive to mobilize grassroots involvement, cultivate programs that are community-driven, and emphasize cultural competency in all aspects of service. Since 1976, we have provided services to empower the diverse Asian community of central Ohio and meet its ever-changing needs.

Family Support Program featured in Columbus Foundation website

Currently featured in the Connect section of Columbus Foundation website, The Family Support program targets low-income families, many who are recent immigrants. Staff provide case management and crisis intervention services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and hate crimes. Clients receive legal accompaniment, job and housing search assistance, and community education. www.columbusfoundation.org/connect/pprojects.aspx

GenerAsian neXt Youth Leadership Conference

GenerAsian NeXt Youth Leadership Conference is designed to empower Asian American middle school and high school students in Ohio. The goal of the youth conference is to foster leadership skills within Asian American/minority youth by exploring their self identity and by providing tools to be positive role models in their community. We invite all Asian youth, their parents and frients to come join the fun activities, learn about new culture and get to know others!

Days: Wednesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays: 3:30 to 7:30pm (for 6 to 12 yrs olds)
   Thursdays, 3:30 to 7:30pm (for 13 to 18 yrs olds)
    Saturdays: 2:00 to 4:00pm (ESL Only; for kids 6 to 18 yrs old)

The Asian Health Fair 2008 will be held on Saturday, April 12th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Columbus Public Health, 240 Parsons Ave. The event will feature free health screenings and information including, but not exclusive to:

Free Female Health Screenings

The Asian Health Initiative Free Clinic is offering free pap smear screenings for cervical and ovarian cancer as well as free clinical breast exams by appointment only on Monday, February 11th, 2008 from 5:30-8:00. Appointments are limited. Please call KT at 614-220-4023 x227 to schedule an appointment or for more information. Interpretation services will be provided for asian languages.

Cambodian Community Health Workshop

The Asian Asthma Prevention Program and the Asian Women Think Pink Program will present a free Cambodian Community Health Workshop on Saturday, February 9, 2008 from 3:00 to 5:00 at Briggs Road Baptist Church (3231 Briggs Rd, Columbus OH 43204). 

 Free presentations on Asthma 101: Prevention and Control and Breast Cancer Prevention with demonstration of breast self-exams will be given.  Raffle prizes will be given and refreshments will be served.  Call Emily Blackie  at 614-220-4023 x223 or Kai-Lun Hwang at 614-220-4023 x 225 for more information.
