Navigator Program (Obamacare Assistance)

About the Program

AACS's Navigator program, supported by our sister organization Asian Services in Action, Inc. (ASIA), provides free assistance related to the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) to members of the community in Central Ohio. We assist:
  • New enrollees apply for and enroll in a health care plan through the health insurance Marketplace;
  • Current enrollees re-enroll in coverage or change coverage for the upcoming year;
  • Medicaid applicants apply for coverage; and
  • Other persons requiring assistance related to Medicaid and the health insurance Marketplace.

In addition to English, we provide assistance in several Asian and other languages including Mandarin, Japanese, Spanish, Korean, Arabic, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Tagalog, Hindi, and Somali.

What to Bring to an Appointment

To enroll in a Marketplace health insurance plan, you will need to provide certain information about yourself. It can be helpful to have identification documents, income-related documents, and, if applicable, immigration documents with you at your appointment so that you have all the information you need to fill out your application. In addition, the Marketplace sometimes asks that you submit certain documents to verify the information that you provided on your application. Having the necessary documents at your appointment can make the process go more smoothly. Before your appointment, don't hesitate to ask us about what types of documents you may need to bring. You can also check out this extensive list on HealthCare.gov which tells you the documents you may need to submit to verify different types of information.

2017 Coverage

The Open Enrollment Period for Marketplace coverage in 2017 is from November 1st 2016 to January 31st 2017. Medicaid and SHOP (Small Business Health Options Program) applicants may submit applications all year long. In addition, you may qualify for Special Enrollment Period if you have certain life events during the year.
